Jerry Minton, president of P.R.C. Inc., publicly labored as a mechanic and supervisor for Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge dealerships in the Atlanta area for many years. His love for racing was a weekend hobby and past time. For several years he built his own race cars, and introduced his stepson "Wayne Groover" to building cars and racing also. "Jerry" built cars for "Gary Powell", "Stan Massey", and Rookies of the Year "Buddy Smith" and "Bill Irrgtam". A National Championship race car was built for "Clint Smith" in early 1993. During the early years of Jerry's involvement in racing, he rubbed shoudlers with some of the best race car drivers in the business.
Building and racing cars eventually evolved into more than a hobby. Jerry then made the decision that his future was not to include working for the other fellow. So with the attitude of "Take this Job and Shove it," he made a commitment and as a result, in 1977 "Precision Race Cars" was born. "Precision Race Cars" began as a three (3) way partnership with Jerry and two other racers. Working out of a 30' x 50' garage in his backyard, the business grew to a point that additions had to be made to the garage twice, In or around 1980-81 "P.R.C." became incorporated. Sometime in 1986 the partnership ended, and Jerry became sole owner, with his stepson Wayne as Vice President.
In November 1993, "P.R.C." outgrew its previous facility and a new location was sought. The present facility at 8681 S. Flatrock Road is located on over 3 acres, and consist of three (3) buildings with an approximate 14,000 so. feet and growing. These buildings house a welding shop, a paint shop, a machine shop and parts department. We here at "P.R.C." are very grateful to all our customers, who through the years, have and still continue to support our efforts in serving their racing needs. Although we no longer build race cars as a business venture, our parts department will continue to make every effort to assist our customers with advice in that area and supply them with the best parts available.
